Agency Is the New Scarcity
In an AI-saturated world, the differentiator isn't access to intelligence—it's the willingness to act on it. Most people use AI to endlessly prepare; the edge belongs to those who decide and ship.
I've been thinking about what changes when capability stops being the constraint.
For years, the story I told myself was simple: I'd do more if I knew more, had more time, had the right skills. And sometimes that was true. But often it was cover for something else - a reluctance to commit, to be visible, to close off options by choosing one. I've started more things in private than I've ever finished in public.
AI is making that harder to hide from. I built this site with Claude Code. The gap between idea and execution collapsed in a way that surprised me. What didn't collapse was the harder part: deciding what to say, what to stand behind, what to put out into the world with my name on it.
Everyone now has access to the same tools. The differentiator isn't capability anymore. It's the willingness to use capability in service of commitment rather than perpetual preparation.
I'm not sure I've fully made that shift. But I'm starting to notice the difference between motion and movement. Between drafting and sending.
In a world where drafts are infinite, the scarce thing is the person willing to hit send.
